[고급진영어] Bells and whistles

항상 기억하실 점은, 그냥 눈으로만 보지마시구 꼭 직접발음해보시고 체화시키시길 바라겠습니다.

Bells and whistles

뜻 : "종과 호루라기 (멋으로 덧붙이는 부가기능)"

영어 사전적 의미 : Attractive but often unnecessary additional features. 

(매력적이지만 불필요한 피쳐들.)

예시:

"We're over-complicating our marketing strategy. We need to eliminate the bells and whistles and go with something simple but effective."

"우리는 필요이상으로 우리의 마케팅 전략을 복잡하게 만들고 있습니다. 우리는 불필요한 것을 제거하고 간단하고 효과적인 것을 해야 합니다."

Run it back

뜻 : 다시 돌아가서

영어 사전적 의미 :Do something again.

(어떤 것을 다시하다)

예시:"I had such an good time at your party. I wish we could run it back and do it all over again!"

"네 파티에서 진짜 좋은 시간을 보냈어. 다시 돌아가서 처음부터 다시 할 수 있으면 좋을텐데... "

Couldn't tell ya!

뜻 : 몰라!

영어 사전적 의미 :

Another way of saying that you don't know.

(모른다고 말하는 것)

예시:

"What's his phone number? Couldn't tell ya! I don't have it."

"그 사람 전화번호가 뭐야?" "응 몰라, 없어."

On the losing end of it

뜻 : 진쪽

영어 사전적 의미 : A phrase used to describe winding up in a negative situation due to a deal, negotiation, or situation.

(딜, 협상, 혹은 어느 상황으로 인해 불리하게 끝나는 상황을 묘사하는 말.)

예시:

"I had to decline that job offer because I was going to be on the losing end of it. The compensation wasn't enough, the benefits weren't great, and there was no room for growth."

"저는 그 잡오퍼를 거절해야 했는데, 왜냐하면 제가 불리하게 될 것이 뻔했기 때문입니다. 연봉도 충분하지 않았고, 복지도그저그랬고, 또 성장의 여지가 보이지 않았습니다."
